Building a
Better Future

Lauren & Family

I am a community-minded leader who believes lasting change happens through service, accountability, and trust. My work has focused on bringing people together across nonprofits, government, and the private sector to strengthen systems, solve real problems, and create practical, durable solutions that serve people where they live.

I served four years as a Logistics Officer in the United States Marine Corps, including two deployments to Iraq. In that role, I was responsible for managing complex operations under pressure—overseeing personnel, equipment, budgets, and supply chains in austere environments where efficiency, accountability, and sound decision-making were not optional. That experience shaped my leadership style and my deep respect for responsible stewardship of resources, clear priorities, and mission-focused execution.

After my military service, I spent more than five years working in the IT field on government contracts as a project manager, business analyst,

and human resources analyst. This work strengthened my skills in operational planning, budgeting, process improvement, compliance, and team leadership—experience that translates directly to effective county governance.

I have also owned and operated small businesses, where I managed budgets, contracts, employees, vendors, and inventory. Like many local employers, I navigated rising costs, regulatory complexity, workforce challenges, and the pressure of balancing long-term sustainability with day-to-day realities. I understand firsthand what small businesses—the backbone of our local economy—are up against, and how critical it is to create an environment where they can grow, hire, and contribute to strong, resilient communities.

Alongside my professional work, I have led and supported nonprofit and volunteer efforts focused on veterans’ advocacy, public land stewardship, youth and family programs, and community resilience. I am a proud veteran and mother, motivated by the belief that communities

thrive when people are supported, systems are accountable, and leadership is grounded in service rather than politics.

I believe Deschutes County deserves practical, steady leadership—leadership that understands operations, respects taxpayer dollars, supports small businesses, and makes decisions with the long-term health of our community in mind.
